The coastline is never quite the same twice. At low tide, the familiar landscape around Compo Mill Cove in Westport, Connecticut reveals a different character, with the water receding to expose the changing contours of the shoreline. Towards Compo Mill Cove at Low Tide is an original oil painting inspired by this coastal scene.


The changing relationship between the water and the land gives the landscape a particular interest, whilst the open views across the Long Island shoreline make this part of Westport a wonderful subject for painting.


This original Compo Mill Cove painting is part of my collection of Westport and Fairfield County coastal artwork. It reflects my interest in familiar stretches of shoreline and the subtle changes in light, tide and atmosphere that make returning to the same place so rewarding.
