Compo Cannons, Westport CT
'History Through Young Eyes'
Original Oil on Canvas | 16 x 20 wide
There is something rather special about the history that surrounds Compo Beach in Westport, Connecticut. History Through Young Eyes is an original oil painting of the Compo Cannons, a familiar landmark that offers a glimpse into the area's past.
Standing overlooking the shoreline, the cannons are a reminder of the British landing at Compo Beach during the American Revolutionary War in 1777. It is a place where the history of the town and the changing character of the New England coast come together.
Painted in oil on canvas, this original artwork is part of my wider collection of Connecticut coastal paintings, inspired by the places, history and landscapes that give this part of New England its distinctive character.
