Jason Pritchard - International Artist - New York/London
Jason Pritchard (b.1977) grew up in East Anglia in the UK - a region of great beauty and romantic landscapes that is the spiritual heartland of England's famous painters, Gainsborough and Constable. His inspiration for painting comes from many of the beautiful places he has visited on his worldwide travel adventures and his visits around the United States.
It was on a once in a lifetime safari trip to the National Kruger Park in South Africa in 2003 where his serendipitous journey into painting began.
Following a week of excitement photographing the beautiful wildlife within the region, the next week in Cape Town hit a low when he found out that the photo-developers managed to lose most of his pictures. Despite the setback, he wondered around the colorful galleries of Cape Town later that same afternoon and was inspired from what he saw - enough to encourage him to recreate his memories and experiences of that trip via the painting medium of watercolor instead.
He practiced using watercolors for the next few years in London and found a way to combine his love of travel with his newly found enjoyment in painting.
By 2005, Jason had moved to Long Beach, New York where he began working in oils and had some of his artwork housed in a gallery in the town he paints, surfs and loves. Since then, he has performed watercolor demonstrations in Long Beach, completed art shows in Manhattan and has had work critiqued by'American Artist' publication.
Jason Pritchard is a member of the New York Art Students
League and West End Arts. He donates postcard artwork to the annual Manhattan
Visual Aids charity exhibition ‘Postcards from the Edge’ - a show and sale of
original, postcard-sized works by established and emerging artists. His father,
Roger Pritchard is also a successful artist.
